An administrative supervisor in a dental office, also known as a dental office manager, is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the office. This includes managing staff, patients, and finances, as well as ensuring compliance with regulations. 
Responsibilities
  • Patient management: Oversee patient relations, handle complaints, and help explain office policies 
  • Staff management: Recruit, interview, hire, and train staff, and manage their schedules and performance 
  • Financial management: Manage patient financial accounts, budgeting, and financial reporting 
  • Regulatory compliance: Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and federal regulations 
  • Marketing: Manage marketing and communications efforts 
  • Scheduling: Schedule appointments and ensure efficient use of staff time 
  • Insurance: Verify insurance, help with insurance claims, and collect payment 
  • Office systems: Manage and update office computer systems 

Skills 
  • Strong organizational skills, including time management, prioritization, and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of dental office contingency plans
  • Awareness of trends, legislation, and regulations in the dental profession

Education 
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Training or education in business, business administration, bookkeeping, or secretarial skills
  • Relevant education, such as an associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field
